India Two-Wheeler Sales in October 2026: Hero Leads as Festive Demand Lifts Major Brands

India’s leading two-wheeler makers recorded strong year-on-year sales in October 2026, as the festive season supported demand for motorcycles and scooters. Hero MotoCorp remained the largest seller among the six major manufacturers covered in this report. TVS Motor posted the strongest annual growth among the top three, while Bajaj Auto saw the sharpest month-on-month rise.

Suzuki Motorcycle India also had a milestone month, reporting its highest-ever monthly sales. Meanwhile, electric two-wheeler registrations reached a reported record, adding another sign of growing interest in electric scooters.

Figures are company-reported domestic sales, as compiled by Autocar India.

Hero MotoCorp stays at the top

Hero MotoCorp led the six manufacturers, selling 7,05,084 two-wheelers in October. Its total was slightly lower than September’s 7,10,436 units, a month-on-month decline of 0.75%. Compared with October last year, however, sales rose by 16.58%.

The figures show that Hero retained its leading position while delivering a substantial annual increase. A small dip from September did not erase the year-on-year growth, which compares October sales with the same month in 2025.

Honda and TVS complete the top three

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India sold 6,64,831 units in October, placing second in the table. Sales were up 4.40% from September and 11% compared with October 2025.

TVS Motor ranked third with 5,14,764 units. It recorded a 6.78% increase over September and a 22.10% rise year on year. Among the three highest-volume companies, TVS had the fastest annual growth rate. Its October figure includes the company’s reported two-wheeler sales; TVS lists its iQube and Orbiter electric vehicles separately, according to Autocar India.

Bajaj records the strongest monthly increase

Bajaj Auto sold 2,92,885 two-wheelers in October. That was 22.15% more than in September, the largest month-on-month increase among the six companies listed. Sales were also 9.91% higher than in October 2025.

Bajaj’s monthly gain stands out in a month when several other companies grew at a more measured pace from September. Its reported total includes models from the brands and product categories covered in its company sales reporting, including Chetak electric scooters.

Suzuki reaches a monthly sales record

Suzuki Motorcycle India reported sales of 1,24,559 units, its highest monthly total to date. The figure was 14.48% above September and 20.40% higher than October 2025. Among the six companies, Suzuki posted the second-fastest year-on-year growth after TVS.

Royal Enfield sold 1,21,527 units. Its sales were nearly unchanged from September, rising by 0.17%, while the year-on-year comparison showed a 4% increase. The result kept Royal Enfield close to Suzuki in monthly volume, though the two companies had different growth rates.

Electric two-wheeler registrations reach a reported high

Electric two-wheelers also had a strong month. October registrations were reported at 2.23 lakh units, up 48% from October 2025 and 7% from September 2026. TVS led the electric segment with 60,429 registrations, followed by Bajaj with 49,067 and Ather with 31,796. Autocar India’s electric two-wheeler report provides further company-level details.

These EV figures are retail registrations. They use a different reporting basis from the domestic company sales figures in the table, so the two sets should not be combined as if they measured exactly the same thing.

What the October results suggest

The October figures show annual growth across all six manufacturers in the table, but monthly movement differed by company. Hero maintained the largest sales volume, TVS delivered the strongest annual growth among the top three, and Bajaj posted the biggest rise from September. Suzuki’s record sales added another notable result.

Festive demand appears to have helped support the market during the month. SIAM’s latest available monthly domestic data in its October 15 release covered September, while its quarterly report said two-wheeler sales grew 15.2% in July–September compared with the same quarter a year earlier. SIAM cited improved affordability following GST 2.0 and said scooter growth outpaced motorcycle growth during that quarter. SIAM’s Q2 FY2026–27 release

October’s company figures offer a timely snapshot of the major brands’ performance, but they do not represent a single, complete industry-wide retail total. Manufacturer sales, exports and vehicle registrations can be reported on different bases. Readers comparing these figures should check whether a source describes domestic sales, total sales including exports, wholesale dispatches or retail registrations.

For buyers, the month’s results point to active competition across established motorcycle and scooter brands, alongside growing electric scooter registrations. For the industry, the next useful comparison will be whether this October strength carries into the following months after the festive buying period.
